Tāmaki Makaurau band Corrella has become a new favourite on the Aotearoa music scene, quickly making a name for themselves with their sun-soaked, reggae-inspired sound. The band is set to release an EP of live studio sessions recorded at Roundhead Studios in Auckland.
Corrella’s popularity has exploded over the last 12 months, with their track ‘Blue Eyed Māori’ arriving as the sleeper-hit of 2023. The track has spent over 35 weeks at the number one spot on the NZ Singles Chart to date, the longest run ever at number one. Alongside a run of high-profile festival appearances over the summer, this new release celebrates a band on the rise.
Live At Roundhead Studios opens with the Te Reo Māori waiata ‘Raumati’, which was featured as part of the Waiata Anthems series in 2022. The EP also features the tracks ‘Lady Divine’, ‘Bonfire’, and their number one charting single, ‘Blue Eyed Māori’, all of which appeared on their debut album, Road From 26.
The EP arrives alongside live videos for each track, filmed and recorded at Roundhead Studios by Christian Tjandrawinata. The release showcases an act that has fast become a festival favourite across Australasia. The band is currently in the writing process for their second album and will be performing headline shows around Aotearoa in May.
